How to sail fast, how to do fast and smooth tacks and jibes, how to start well, what strategy to choose, what rules to take into account when in crowd rounding a mark, where the crew should sit, what do all these flags mean? And many other details you should know and train to have a good race and enjoy in it. All of that and more we learn on our race – sailing courses in lovely Jezera town.

Theoretical lessons and training: Sail trim, gennaker sailing, how to steer the boat fast, boat speed and angles comparison, racing Rules of Sailing basics and practical application while starting and racing, start, upwind – downwind races, coastal races…

Theory and training: Improve Level 1 knowledge, race field strategy and tactics, roll tacks, roll jibes, crew positioning and moving, VMG sailing, fine tuning and steering in different conditions (from no wind to near gale force winds), boat speed and angles comparison, start, layline, complex situations (start, mark rounding; rules, how to react)… And a lot of short training
races.

Your coaches will be Marjan Gorec and Ivan Nemet.
Marjan Gorec is one of the most experienced Adriatic sailing instructors. He is in charge of Porta- sailing, maybe the best Slovenian sailing school, sailing instructor for more than 20 years and a specialist for Seascape boats. The winner of the 2016 doublehanded 135 miles long Seascape Challenge race in a Seascape 27 class, together with the Seascape boats designer, Samuel Manuard. Four times winner of the same race in Seascape 18 class (2017, 2019, 2022 and 2023). In the last edition there was 39 Seascape 18 on the starting line! In 2021, 2022 and 2023 also the winner of Jabuka Race in class Seascape 27 and the 2022 Seascape 18 Slovenian vice-champion.
Ivan Nemet is sailing instructor with more than 10 years experience. Co-founder and chief instructor in Free Spirit Sailing School in Jezera, Murter island, Croatia.

MINI OFFSHORE EXPERIENCE:
Four days full of active sailing. With an exciting Seascape 27. Under supervision of an experienced skipper / instructor, who will advise you with many tips and tricks on how to manage a modern performance cruiser / racer. Beside this we will enjoy the out-of-the-season tranquillity of the North Adriatic Sea islands and its tiny towns, our overnight stops. The first island is just 22 nautical miles from our starting point (Port of Bunarina, Pula, Croatia). -

Experience the regatta with the biggest number of participants in the world

With some racing spirit, but still on the safe side, we will join the race with the biggest number of boats on the starting line in the world. With around 2000 boats at the starting line, it is a unique experience to sail this 15 miles long race.
In the two days before the race, we will learn and train the manoeuvres needed in the race, then sail the race as good as possible.
During the training everybody that is new to race-sailing will get familiar with basics of racing.
The ones that are more familiar to race-sailing will take more demanding tasks and learn new things.
We are going to sail aboard a 10,5 meters long JOD 35.

Saturday, 11.10.2025: Sailing to Trieste. Race simulation – sailing / training on the actual race field.

You skipper and instructer is going to be Matjaž France, co-funder of Porta-Sailing. Highly experienced skipper and instructor (he started to work as a sailing instructor more than 25 years ago) and also very experienced race skipper and tactician. He has got more than 20 Barcolana races under his belt, including being tactician aboard a RC 44, achieving 10. place overall and 1. place in the class.

Eight days of sailing the exciting First 27SE / Seascape 27. Race-sailing school, race-training and participation in one of the most interesting Mediterranean races – the Round Long Island Race.
Through theoretical hours and a lot of sailing we dive into performance and the race sailing. Boat speed and boat handling in different conditions and directions, tactics, meteorology… We enjoy in the
out-of-the-season vibe of the North Dalmatia sea and islands, in the ever-changing out-of-the-season weather and watch the teamwork growing better, faster, smoother…
With only three “students” on board there will be plenty of time for individual approach.
And than we experience the real adventure, 110 nautical miles long Round Long Island Race.
THE RACE
Starting from the picturesque town of Zlarin on Zlarin Island and rounding Dugi Otok. 110 miles of tactically very demanding race. One third is sailed on the open sea, the rest between the numerous islands of North Dalmatia.
